Beach within Reach is a small Thanet (Kent, UK) based charity that provides all-terrain wheelchairs to some of the beautiful beaches and surrounding countryside around Margate and Broadstairs.

The wheelchairs will be available during summer 2016 on 7 of Thanet’s sandy beaches, but you can also call us to chat about use away from the beach.

They are free to loan to anybody who has a mobility impairment, providing you can bring along some I.D to prove who you are and complete a simple form for our records.

There is no charge for using the wheelchair but we are a charity run entirely by volunteers and would appreciate any donation you are willing to give.

We need to raise £40,000+ in order to replace all of our existing chairs and ensure that we can provide all terrain wheelchairs to Thanet for the next 10 years.

The easiest way to donate is via our TextGiving number, you can donate by texting

BINR14 £2 to  70070

Or if you wish to donate more you can text BINR14 £5 or BINR14 £10 to 70070

Thanks Debbie for delivering the chair so we could push my friend Isobel with her broken femur round the 5k Race For Life event last Sunday. The chair was easy to manoeuvre over grass, gravel and Tarmac. Isobel said it was very comfortable. We got lots of comments and handed out leaflets to wheelchair users we met en route.
Good luck with the fund raising for such a worthy cause.
We are involved with Burghfield Sailing Club Sailability near Reading. Please let us know when you replace the chairs if you wish to sell one off to us. It would be great to have one for our wheelchair users. I will display your leaflet at our club. Thanet area with its superb beaches could be a good place for our clients to holiday and make use of your chairs.
    Thank you once again

    • Thank you so much for your lovely comments, and thank you for handing out the leaflets…I will be in touch with you when I have news on our fundraising. We were more than happy to help Isobel as I am aware the Race for Life means so much to her. I was just happy to help 🙂
